Okay, I seem to have solved the problem for now.
In checking my account settings, I noticed that the outgoing mail was NOT set to authenticate. It had been working that way for the better part of a year, but I figured I'd give it a try. Since I turned on authentication for outgoing mail, my emails are getting through. I'll keep an eye on it, but this problem may be solved.
