If you are unable to log into the owners mailbox to assign owner permissions to another user than the calendar will not be able to be transferred.

Suppose the previous owner sent you a copy of the calendar as an email attachment.

Can a new person take the information there in, and recreate the calendar? Or simply take the ownership of the attachment and convert it into a calendar?
