When you are typing in the email or name in the TO: field, are you using the auto complete? Or are you typing the address out? If you are using the auto complete, try this:

1. start typing the name till the user pops up in the auto complete box .
2. highlight the name and press delete.
3. type the full email address out in the TO field
4. Send the email
