I prefer my Expand Collapse default settings to be set to 'All Collapsed', and I have had no problem with that for years. However, recently, each time I go to one of my folders (which may contain several hundred emails) the setting has been changed to 'All Expanded' or 'As Last Viewed'. This is driving me mad!
I am altering the settings by going View/Current View/Customise current view/Group by/'Expand/Collapse Defaults'/OK/OK. However, next time I go back, the settings have been changed. I run Outlook 2007/W7 64 bit.
Can anyone please tell me what is going on and how to fix it.

I and several colleagues at work just started experiencing the same (maddening) error. If anyone can assist please let us know.

It may be useful to note that I have seen it both on my work-based PC and my home-PC that is used for work. So the setting would have had to been set on some sort of network-basis or perhaps a program update to change the default behavior.

Are there any solutions to this issue?? I have been having the same trouble, very infuriating. Thanks.

The only solution I have been able to find is to upgrade to Office 2010, which is pretty irritating, but it does solve the problem.

We are using Office365 E3 with Office 2010 Professional Plus Ver.14.0.6112.5000(64-bit) installed on all users & we have this same problem - that Outlook will not retain the view setting no matter what we try.
Does anyone have a fix for this bug?

Sad to say that this - thoroughly annoying problem, is still there in Outlook 2013 (365 ProPlus) 15.0.4517.1003

6-8 times a day I have to reset this thing.
