How do I get rid of what I believe is paragraph spacing in outlook?
I use calendar items all day long. If I dont remember to hit Shift and Enter, it gives me a Double Return (Double Line Spacing). I want something that looks like this: Name: Occupation: Phone: I only get it like this if I remember to hit shift and enter. Otherwise, If I just hit enter, I get this: Name: Occupation: Phone: I just want a regular return. I dont want to have to hold the shift down. Any help in turning off this feature would be appreciated. |

In a message:
"Format Text" ribbon "Paragraph Settings" (which is the tiny icon in the bottom right corner of the "Paragraph" group.) Change the values of "Spacing Before" and "Spacing After" to "0 pt". You can get to the screen by pressing this four-key sequence, one after another: F10 o p g |

Good day, thank you for the clear explanation as to how to remove the double paragraph spacing in Outlook. However, in new Outlook, the minimum spacing is 1. How do I change it to zero, so that it will look like Komobu's request? I need to change the setting as a permanent fixture for every new email and reply to incoming emails.
The double spacing is particularly problematic when copying and pasting a written section from Word to new Outlook. I'm using Office 365 Personal on Windows 11. Your help would be greatly appreciated, as it's a real time thief to correct every single email before sending it. |

Line spacing zero is not possible. I believe the minimum line-spacing value is 0.06, although that will likely result in unreadable text.
Open the "Paragraph" dialog box, and experiment with line-spacing and before and after paragraph spacing values. When you achieve the look you want, click "Set As Default." |

When I open a new email, click on the body space of the email, the "format text" option becomes available. I click on "spacing", but there are no options which can be changed or edited. I am working on a laptop, so I don't know if it's different on a different device.

Instead of clicking "Spacing," click on the almost-imperceptible icon to the right of the word "Paragraph":

My screen in new Outlook looks different and doesn't have that arrow in the corner.

If you click "Spacing," does a menu appear that includes an item, "Line Spacing Options?" If yes, that's what you want. If no, perhaps Microsoft eliminated the feature.

In New Outlook for Windows, compose a new message, put your cursor in the body of the email and then do you see either of these?

Thanks Alan, but the screen shot you are using is for old Outlook. New Outlook doesn't have that option, and less options for the actual sizes.
Hornblower409, I am using Classic Ribbon and that is what the screen looks like. I want to know if I can adjust the spacing to zero, as I used it previously with old Outlook. It really is a problem when copying text from a Word document and pasting it in an email body. The spacing is huge, and often double spacing. |

As I understand how things work, when pasting from another program (e.g. Word) with "Keep Formatting" then the Outlook settings have nothing to do with it.
In situations like this, I usually do "Paste Plain Text" into Outlook and then apply whatever formatting is needed. (In the body of a new email, Ctrl-Shift-V will do a Paste Plain in the New Outlook). |

Hornblower409 that is very helpful, thank you. When I merely right click, I can only select "paste". But when I use your Ctrl-Shift-V option, it works correctly. REALLY appreciate that. Now, how do I remove the double spacing which happens every time between the text in the email body and the email signature?

When you do Paste (either using a Right-Click or Ctrl-V) do you not see a "(Ctrl)" dropdown at the end of the pasted text?
