![]() Just migrated to Windows 11. I use Office 365 Outlook for email. At first, they tried to get me to use Outlook (New), which I quickly abandoned due to missing features. Now back with Outlook (Classic), but that seems to be missing things. 1. There does not seem to be a way to classify appointments by colour like there used to be. It has applied some colour, but not in any sensible fashion and not how I want. Has/why has, this feature been removed? 2. On the Windows 10, it was easy to see if there were new emails in each folder. Now, I have to expand the email address to see if there are new emails. This seems to be a backward step as well. Any way to get back to how it looked? In the Windows 10, it was possible to assign a Personal Folder where emails for a specific account are delivered, which showed the number of new emails after the folder name. Not possible on Windows 11. |

The categorise option seems to be partially available in Outlook (Classic) on Windows 11. I note that my emails have now been set up as IMAP on Windows 11, whereas they were POP3 on Windows 10 and googling has suggested that IMAP does not support Categorise.
However, the attached screen shot below shows that it is available. It is possible to add new categories and change the colour, but if all categories for an item are deleted, it is not possible to add a new one (by right clicking). It does not seem to be possible to categorise new event either. Supposedly it is possible to add Categorise to the toolbars, but this does not work either. Anyone had any success in categorising a new calendar event in Outlook (Classic) on Windows 11 with IMAP? |

OK, found a work around for this.
On an event that does have an existing category, apply a Shortcut Key to the category - say F2. Then for new events, you can hit F2, which applies the category, which can then be changed by right clicking on the category above the Save & Close button. Bit naff, but at least it works until a proper fix is applied by Microsoft. |
