I have just started to use a new laptop and am looking to wind down the old one. The new uses Outlook 2010, the old Outlook 2002 SP3. I have (perhaps unwisely) used the same e-mail address for both. It looks as though the old laptop is holding the main account and the new one is simply holding a copy - I have summised this from the fact that nothing goes to 'sent items' on the new one (even though the appropriate box is ticked in Options/Mail/Save Messages), but items sent from the new laptop appear in the inbox on the old one.
How do I ensure that the new laptop takes over the main e-mail account? Answers in words of one syllable, please as I suffer from a severe understanding deficit in these matters. |

Can you please supply some additional info?
- What type of connection do your laptops have? Both types would be helpful. - To clarify you said the second laptop was a copy? How did you come to that conclusion. Keep us posted. |

Apologies in advance for my lack of technological knowledge. Both laptops are currently connected by LAN cable to the Wireless router which is connected to the Cable Modem.
As regards the reference to a 'copy', I was referring to the e-mail account. I do not know how Outlook works but it appears that the version on the first laptop holds the main account as any e-mails I send from the second laptop do not appear in the 'sent items' file on the second laptop but do appear in the inbox of the first laptop version of Outlook. |

Sorry, Spidertech, but I don't know how to find this out (for some reason, I think it is IMAP, but I don't know why I think that).
However, I have now discovered that my sent items on laptop 2 were hiding in a folder headed '[Google Mail]' - no idea why - I'm pretty sure I didn't put them there! No need to reply further but thanks for your interest. |

Your welcome.
Check to see if you have any rules enabled that would move messages to Google mail, or if its an imap all message might move to that folder by default. |
