Sorry, Spidertech, but I don't know how to find this out (for some reason, I think it is IMAP, but I don't know why I think that).

However, I have now discovered that my sent items on laptop 2 were hiding in a folder headed '[Google Mail]' - no idea why - I'm pretty sure I didn't put them there!
