This is an independent forum and not run by Microsoft, so I can assure you that the issue has nothing to do with this forum or its contributors.
e-mail addresses are harvested on an industrial scale and some scammers will mask the sender by making the message appear to be from the recipient. It's simply a fact of life in the internet age. As for gettingf the police to be interested even if you identify the scammer, then good luck with that. You can reduce or remove the problem of scam mails by using a third party piece of software to sit between your mail server and Outlook to wash the mail. I have used MailWasher Pro for years and I have not had any scam mails in my inbox since.
