Default attachment display settings

I'm trying to figure out why Outlook 2016 suddenly started displaying email attachments in a single vertical column under the email subject line, rather than having 4 or 5 attachments displayed in horizontal single line orientation as it has always been. I can't find any setting to change the view back to the horizontal orientation as I don't like to have to scroll down to see all the attachments. The regular view settings (compact vs single line) have no effect on the attachment view.

Apparently it has something to do with the huge size of the attachments icons. The icons used to be small but now suddenly they are this ridiculously large size that forces them to be displayed in a single vertical line. I'm thinking it must have been pushed through in one of the recent updates.
