Default extra Personal Folders

Using Outlook 2016. When Outlook is open the first folder displayed to the left is
Personal Folders. It is followed by a folder Archive. The next folder is another Personal Folders which is where all my saved email is stored in sub folders. Can the first Personal Folders folder be removed? If yes, how?

The short answer is yes.

You can close your Archive folder - right click and select Close.

You have two personal folders PST files loaded. The top one is the default, but it seems you want to use the other one which is a historical file. To do that copy any data that you want to keep from the upper one to the lower one.

From the accounts settings dialog Email tab change the Folder for each POP account from the inbox of one to the inbox of the other. From the Data Files tab of the same dialog, set the other PST file as the default. You can then close the unwanted file in the same way as the Archive file.

If you need any information from either archive or the closed personal folders in the future, you can open those PST files again to access it.

I failed. I tried your directions with mixed results. I was able to copy the folders to the 2nd Personal Folders. They are now identical. I can't change the default folder in the Data Files list. I can't close either Personal Folders. I was able to close the Archive folder.

Did you ensure that all your accounts (if more than one) deliver their mail to the same PST file? You have to do it separately for each account. You cannot close a folder that is in use.
