Outlook 2010, forward email to myself in gmail, it shows up inbox, but deletes when clicked on.

i have gmail set up in outlook 2010. when i forward an email only to myself, it appears in my inbox, but when i click on the email, it automatically deletes. However, it still shows up when i log in to gmail account online. If I open it in gmail online, it does not delete from outlook. Additionally, it does not show up in deleted messages in outlook, but does show up and stay in my sent items. This is not a new issue. It has always done this. Can anyone help?

Before when this was happening, i was forwarding emails ONLY to myself. I am now realizing it is doing the same thing whether I forward to only me, or to me and other email addresses. It only behaves this way in outlook, not in gmail on the web.
