Default Outlook 2007 sound alert not working

Hello

I have MS Outlook 2007 on my desktop that is linked to my online Outlook account by means of the Outlook Connector.

I never go onto the Internet Outlook account: I just rely on the desktop application.

I receive and send emails as normal, but what I can't seem to do is have a sound alert when an email arrives for me.

I have set the sound alert up as follows:
  1. Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.
  3. Under When new items arrive in my Inbox, select or clear the Play a sound check box.

but it is not working.

Please see attachment)

Any advice, please?
