Address book not in last name format sending email

I use many small address folders to group special contacts (50 plus) that I use for mailing emails to groups. Although I set them up as "Last Name First" when creating the folders, when I bring them up when addressing an email, the addresses are not in Last Name Alphabetical order. How do I make this happen?
