First let me preface my question by stating that I'm not a Windows user and I am personally not using Outlook.
I have a client who has been using Outlook 2007. Until recently they worked for the government and over the past eight years they have a accumulated about 100 different distributions lists. They are now retired and recently migrated to Outlook 2013. I'm trying to get a clear understanding of how distribution list worked back in Outlook 2007 compared to how they were today in Outlook 2013. It seems like back in Outlook 2007 that you could have contacts in your distribution list that did not reside in your address book. Is this correct? If so, is this still the case with Outlook 2013? Can Outlook 2007 and 2013 link only some contacts in a distribution list directly to the address book an have other contacts that are independent of the address book? I am also trying to understand if an email address for a contact is changed in the address book does this automatically update and all the corresponding distribution list? Finally, if a contact is deleted from the address book does it automatically get deleted from the distribution list...and has this behavior change between Outlook 2007 in Outlook 2013? |
