I am getting an error message when starting Outlook 2007.
"The mail profile was created with a newer version of Outlook" I do not use Outlook for mail just for contacts. Is there any way to over come the error message when running Outlook 2007? Walter |

I would recommend removing the profile and re-adding it, this should eliminate the issue. If you don't wish to refresh the profile, this is achievable by changing the registry key, but this is not advised unless you know what you are doing.
The key which would need changing - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\<profile name>\0a0d020000000000c000000000000046 Delete the value name, this should be 0003036f, although it will be different depending on which version of Outlook you had when creating the profile. |

I looked at the setting under Tools Accounts and there not an entry for Email, there is an entry Data Files and that is Outlook.pst in C:\users\documents\Oulook Files which points to were the contacts are located, no other entries in a the other tabs, is that what should be looking for?
I am not confident in editing the registry so I will leave the registry alone |

Hi Walter,
The below article has all necessary information on adding and removing email accounts. The process will differ slightly depending on which type of account you are using (POP, IMAP, Exchange, EAS) if you're not sure which type of account you're using, simply navigate to control panel > mail > click accounts and this will tell you the account type. https://support.office.com/en-au/art...6-8aa8a072f60f Let me know if you have any issues. |

I added a email account and tested it by sending email to another email account and also replied which all worked fine.
I closed Outlook and re-started Outlook but I still get the same error. I rebooted my pc and restarted Outlook but still the same error message. |

Hi Walter,
Then I would advise checking out the following article regarding editing the registry key. It's a fairly simple process and as long as you are very careful you shouldn't have any problems. Make a backup of your registry or create a system restore point to ensure you will cause no damage. http://www.msoutlook.info/question/510 Please do read the note right at the bottom of the page in the link, as it explain that if your Outlook profile is named "Outlook" which is the default option, then you can download the registry key fix directly from the article, meaning you will not have to make ANY changes to the registry yourself. I hope this helps. |

A BIG thank you for your help which works a treat.
One thing is it would be nice if Outlook contacts opened when Outlook is started. Is there any setting in Outlet to do that? |

Hi Walter,
Glad to hear that solved your issue, happy to help. I'm not entirely sure what you mean, do you wish to change the default address book to show contacts rather than (for example) the Global Address List? If so, there is a comprehensive guide in the link below. http://www.msoutlook.info/question/262 If this is not what you're looking for, could you please be more specific? |

When Outlook loads down the bottom left corner it says
Calendar Contacts Tasks My Outlook opens in the Mail section but I would like it to open in the Contacts by default rather than Mail. I do not know if that is possible. |

Hi Walter,
Oh yes, this is possible, as I use Outlook 2013 I had to consult another article, but once again it has fairly simple instructions on how to achieve this, under number 1 in the following link. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10-...-way-you-want/ Let me know if you have any problems. |
