I have automatic forwarding set on my ISP email account to forward to my Outlook 365 (Outlook 2013 Exchange Server) address. I would like to have a rule that recognizes such forwarded messages. I haven't been successful in writing a rule based on the (original) ISP address to which the mail was sent.
I would like to have a rule that looks at the IP mail header. I was quite successful in writing that kind of filter in Eudora. However I can;'t get Eudora to work with Outlook 365 and the IT staff doesn't know about Eudora or want to spend time solving my POP3 problem. Is there any way I can get Outlook rules to work with information in the IP mail header? Or is there some other work-around? |

One of the rule options is to look for specific words in the mail header, but if the message is forwarded it may have FW: in the subject?

The header information displayed by Outlook is inadequate for my purposes. I want to look at the real internet header for such fields as "X-Mailer:" Is that possible?

Not so! The header information accessible by the rule is the complete header, so if you want to search for (say)
X-Mailer: PHPMailer (phpmailer.sourceforge.net) then use that text in the rule. ![]() You can view the complete header for an individual message by opening the message and clicking the arrow at the bottom right of the Tags group on the message ribbon.
