Upon further investigation it seems clear that I would need to add a macro and then run a "custom script" rule. Having no idea how to draft a custom Outlook script myself, I've been searching for a pre-made solution to adapt online. The closest I've been able to find is a blog post entitled "VBA - Processing ICS File Attachments" (accessible at: http://anvil-of-time.com/wordpress/p...e-attachments/) but what I do with this is still a mystery to me, despite playing around in the Visual Basic Editor for several hours.
