Samsung camera is not compatible with windows 8 is thee a fix

hello . my plug and play Samsung HZ35W camera photos will not connect to my new computer(windows 8.1) I called Samsung. I was told that the camera is not compatible with windows 8. There must be something I can do. would anyone have suggestion. Desperate. thanks. bob.

I got the answer. it didn't seem to be a windows problem. I fumbled with it and tried different usb ports and finally the computer recognized the camera. sorry for the waste of time on this forum.
