New email notification sound program events
I`m using Microsoft Office 2007. The program events sound works on email from my own contacts but not on all other incoming emails. I`ve tried everything in Control Panel/sounds, and rules and alerts in Outlook but to no avail. Is this just Outlook 2007 or should i do something else? |

Alerts
terrace,
When you go to rules and alerts > and click on Manage Alerts tab a message pops up saying that you must use a Microsoft Office Compatible alert source. If you click on New Alert you should be able to browse to an alert source....if you happen to have one. Hope this points you in the right direction. Desktop Alerts?
terrace,
Maybe I misunderstood your first post. I don't understand how you may have configured your alerts for your contacts only - the default is for all mail items. The info I gave you earlier is for customizing alerts (you'll need a 3rd party program for that). Here is where you can make sure anytime anything comes into your inbox that it makes a sound: In Outlook:

Desktop Alerts?
Thanks again. I haven`t attempted to configure it for just contacts and i don`t know about the default. Anyway i`ve reached the "desktop alert settings" page ImageShack - Image Hosting :: alerts.jpg now what do i do with that? Does that control the sound too?

Desktop Alerts?
My attachment shows that i`ve got everything ticked to get the sound and envelope, but the sound and envelope don`t happen all the time and in particular no sound for all incoming emails. Does the default need to be redone? ImageShack - Image Hosting :: soundenv.jpg

New email notification sound program events
Still can`t get the new email notification sound to happen on incoming emails. Have tried everything in control panel, rules and alerts and tools options to advanced email options. The sound will happen when i click on send/receive when i send an email to myself. Any other suggestions?

New email notification sound program events
Could it be that i`ve missed something so simple? Let me explain! Does the Inbox have to be open for the New Mail Notification sound to be heard. I`m just experimenting now by not having the inbox open and sending an email to myself and having another folder open e.g. "deleted items or sent items", because on a couple of occassions the notification has sounded with the inbox open and not sounded with another folder open instead of the inbox.

New email notification sound program events
I`ve tried everything in tools options>rules and alerts>sounds and devices but no change. I can send an email to myself and the sound can be heard but, the sound doesn`t play when other emails come in. I have even taken advice to insert the sound wave info in the registry as follows but to no change> Any experts out there? If you've configured a sound to play when a new email message arrives and that sound doesn't play even after you've used the Control Panel Sound applet to confirm that it is correctly configured, you can configure the sound via the registry:

If sounds are configured properly for a new email notification, you will get a sound for the first email you recieve. But if you receive a second email within a certain timeframe of the first email you received, there will be no sound played. I believe the timeframe is about five minutes. If you wait long enough, between the first and second emails, you'll get a sound for the second email as well, and so on. I don't know if this is configurable. |

new email sound
Hi, i found this article by Ken Slovak on Outlook 2003. Maybe the part about "doesn`t play for all emails and approx. every 5 minutes applies to Outlook 2007". Attached-
I`ve also noticed that when i first turn Outlook 2007 on the email will come straight in and the sound will not play but if i send an email to myself and wait and leave Outlook open the sound will play. I solved this a fair while ago. Google for Ken Slovaks article. Cheers |

So, Basically it will not make a sound for every email. Does anyone know a work around to receive an audible alert for every single e-mail that may arrive in your box?
