Constant 'receiving emails' message in Outlook 2007
Hi. I’m having a problem with ‘ghost’ emails slowing down receipt of emails in Outlook 2007. When I have Outlook open, I am constantly seeing the message ‘receiving message 1 of 1’, ‘2 of 2’ etc. though they don’t appear to be ‘real’ emails, as they never arrive in Outlook, nor on my 1&1 webmail server. Genuine mail is still getting through, but with an annoying time lag - though I’ve set my Outlook to download new emails from server every minute, which used to be the case, they are clearly being held up by this problem and are now not arriving in my mailbox until up 15 mins after they were sent. This first went on for about 2 weeks, then the ‘blockage’ seemed to clear automatically – the ‘receiving message’ alert ceased, the usual ‘send/receive complete’ message resumed, and I began receiving mail normally (i.e. within a minute of it being sent to me). However, after just a few days, the ‘receiving message x of x’ has begun again, and the time lag between mail being sent and being downloaded from the server to Outlook is getting progressively longer. The only option appears to keep logged in to my webmail server all day, but as this times out regularly and also means constantly checking the server (as of course, it doesn’t alert me automatically, as Outlook does, when a message arrives) it’s really not ideal. I’d be grateful if anyone has any idea why this may be happening and how I can actively clear whatever the ‘block’ is myself, without waiting for weeks again in the hope it’ll resolve by itself again (only for it to keep happening thereafter anyway). This problem is only happening on my laptop – I also have my Outlook set up on my home and office PCs, and mail seems to be being delivered normally, i.e. within the minute, on those. Thanks in advance all.
