Share NoteBook and allow notetaking but not editing

I would like to share a notebook with my students and allow them to take notes in it, but I don't want them to be able to edit the original document. When I give them a link with view only privileges, they can't take notes in the notebook. How do I allow them to take notes in the notebook without changing the original document?
