Yes, as i type this i realize i have only presented an aspect of the issue without having any good research for further analysis, which i will be delving into tomorrow such as if the behavior is also present with copy and paste on Excel spreadsheets or between forms in Access (or Excel for that matter), to see if it occurs outside the VBE environment.
I got this computer new in December 2022, a Dell Precision 3650: Device nameOnce i dug out of a few bugs all ran great, then at some point, i think about May of 2023 give or take, i started to notice this issue with Office apps. At that time, and up to about one month ago, i was running Office/Microsoft/Pickaname 365. Now i am running Office 2021. The issue showed no change between the two versions. I also suspect occasional evidence of within Outlook, though i cannot state that as fact. The freezes have not been timed, and due to frustration levels i am sure i will exaggerate, but on the short end it might be a little more than momentary, where on the longer end i will have time to flip between a few programs (usually with the hope that i can jog a few electrons loose), come back to Access or Excel, swear a bit under my breath, give up and wait - i'd say the longer process could last up to a couple minutes. During this time keystrokes are ignored in the Office app in which i was working that triggered the issue, though once the program resumes, a number of them will execute such as moving and clicking the cursor to a new position, highlighting text or perhaps a paste that didn't show up until the app came back from the dead. During the freeze time i can fully work with other programs, including other Office programs. I do use some "helper apps" - Navigator for Excel, MZTools 8, and a quick little indenting program, but i have uninstalled all of those, performed a complete Office wipe and reinstallation, and the issue persists (i guess for what it's worth, i can reinstall my helper apps...). I have checked out the running processes during these freezes and all seems normal, usually with System Idle Process running in the high 90's, if not mid 99.x's For anitvirus i run Defender, Malwarebytes Premium and Glasswire (though admittedly i am rather incompetent in each). Though my main Excel app is rather large with lines of VBA, at least in my eyes - around 50k lines not counting commented ones, the Access project was just recently started and began showing issues with likely under 50 lines of code. Though i try not to have one running when the other is needed, it seems to make no difference. What does make a difference is how long either Excel or Access has been running - the wait times are much shorter at when the program (Excel or Access) is first started and grow infuriating towards the end of day. Because of that i was concerned over hardware cooling so i opened and verified all screens and innards (i picked that up from Granny, The Beverly Hillbillies) were clean and made sure all vent & fan areas were completely free of obstruction. At this point i am wondering if there are any known issues of this nature, which is kind of pitiful because that is the best i can hope for! If anyone believes i need to post this also in any other specific forum that would not be an issue of cross-posting (perhaps Dell or CPU manufacturer or ECC RAM specific), i appreciate all and any advice to resolve this as though i have worked with it for some time now, it is very frustrating and not what i paid money for a new computer to do. As always, to the knowledgeable community out there, my sincere thanks. I once was keeping up with tech, but around the year 2000 that boat sailed while i was having one too many rum punches. I appreciate your knowledge and compassion so very much! Best Regards, -Bruce |

Is there ANYONE FROM MICROSOFT that could weigh in on this???
![]() As i am actively working with the issue ow i find another behavior to note - if i highlight text and hit DELETE i run into the same issue. 13:43 Frankly, all i need do is highlight a section and the freeze begins- Office Clipboard reported (now that i have the indicator turned on) that 2 of the 24 slots were being used. |
