Hi guys,
We are looking for a tool for our organization which can be run on an individual computer (like an anti-virus scan) and can identify all Office macro-enabled files on that PC. I have come across some oletools but they are python based and I am not sure my organization will go that way since we are a MS shop. Can you pls recommend if there are any alternate solutions offered by Microsoft? Thanks. |

Since you mention macros I assume you are talking about Word, Power Point and Publisher files since macros are not used in Access or Excel.
I know files can contain macros but I always thought the application setting can prevent macros being allowed to run 'without notification'. See photo. I know this does not answer your question but it may allow your organisation to stop macros running via a group policy setting for each app so that if files do contain macros then they will not be able to run.
