It costs nothing to give them a try but maybe on a computer that is not connected to the internet due to security issues.
If connected to the internet then, for security, consider using LibreOffice instead. It is free. LibreOffice ( Home | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft ) has Writer (Word equivalent) and Calc (Excel equivalent). LibreOffice is Office compatible but the tabbed user interface will take a bit of getting used to if you are coming from the menu based Office 2002 interface. |
