The installation process does not delete your personal files. If you don't want them, File > Account Settings > remove account(s) should eliminate them. However if you connect to the account server and there are mails there to be downloaded, reconnecting to the account will download them or access them depending on the connection method. You could connect to the account via web access and make whatever changes you require there to stored e-mails.
