If I'm not mistaken, running the suggested diagnostics is to repair an already corrupted file(s).
I looked at DISM and determined it's far easier and quicker just to reinstall. I'm thoroughly protected against and check daily for malware. I do not 'clean' the registry. I was hoping that others had reported a similar problem over the years with several potential culprits. I guess not. Thanks anyway. Mark |

Reinstall Windows and all your Apps & data? I think not.

I also stayed clear of DISM because of the MS warnings associated. It seemed that MS intended the tool to be used by admins who *really knew what they were doing vs. someone like myself. No?
As for the reinstall, I think we're talking two different ideas. I'm referring to Setting/Uninstall/Modify/second of two 'repairs' that appears to download Office and start fresh. No? |

Well, as I've already said, DSIM & SFC are for checking your system, so no matter how many times you repair/reinstall Office, that's not going to remedy any underlying system problem - only something that addresses a system problem will do that.

Well it took a bit but I eventually got your point.
DISM ran successfully. sfc /scannow found corrupt files it could not fix. Per the following: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. And here's where I'm stuck. Above says repair details are included in the log. I guess they are but I sure can't find them? And I cannot distinguish if I'm supposed to do an 'online' repair or an 'offline' repair? I tried to upload the CBS.log file that I copied to and saved as a .txt file but it's too large for the forum: CBS_log.txt: Your file of 458.2 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 100.0 KB for this filetype. I'm stuck. Mark |
