I have Office 2007 & Office 365 on this PC (following purchase of a new laptop 2 months ago). I wasn't sure whether I wanted Office 365 so did not uninstall Office 2007. Now, even though I have set all the program defaults to the Office 2016 applications, clicking on an Office file in File Explorer tries to open with the 2007 version rather than 2016. Opening an older file with Open\Browse in the 2016 applications is fine. Is there any value in keeping the older Office for older files or will the 2016 version take care of that? I have decided I do want to keep Office 365.

Office 365/2016 fully supports your Office 2007 (& earlier) files, so there is no need to keep Office 2007 unless you're nostalgic about it.

Delete old Office, "repair" install of Office 365, problem solved.
