I have the exact same problem. Windows 7 x64, Office 2010 x64, can preview a ton of other items, just not Excel, Word, Powerpoint...

Very frustrating...

FED up, I went back to my 2007 installation, migrated ALL preferences to 2010 x86, yesss

32 bits.

It´s unbelievable,

MS does not have ready a LOT of their own stuff for 64bits.

Will stay on office 2010 x86 till MS gets it act ok and a lot of plugin developers also.
