Default Trying to put Office 2010 on Win 10

I now have a new notebook with Win 10 on.

I am also using desktop with Win 7 and Office 2010 which I purchased on line from Microsoft in 2012.

I emailed the said email to the notebook and set about re-downloading it which I am entitled to do. It told me it would take 9 hours to download and after 2 or 3 hours it had still only loaded 4%. Other programs Ive downloaded have whizzed through. Why would Office take so long?

I don't know what you mean about emailing to the notebook - you really wouldn't want to email a 3Gb Office installer as an email attachment... Even downloading something that size will take a long time on a poor connection or from a slow server (which is what you might get if not downloading direct from MS).

No - the email was a receipt from Microsoft stating my Product Key and telling me to click on Account Management Console at any time - that led me to the download page. It would be coming direct from M/S

Evidently, then, you scored a poor connection. It might be worthwhile suspending the download, re-starting your modem, then resuming the download.

Ok- will try that tomorrow - any idea how long it should take? As I said, earlier, other things I downloaded went through very quickly. So connection is pretty good.

how long it takes depends on the speed of your connection and the size of the download. Other downloads only provide a valid comparison when you allow for the differences the size of the download.

Office Professional Plus 2010 with Service Pack 1 (x86 and x64) is a 2525MB download.
Office Standard 2010 with Service Pack 1 (x86 and x64) is a 2241MB download.
Office 2010 SP2 (x64) is a 1507MB download.
Office 2010 SP2 (x86) is a 1573MB download.

You would be well advised to save the download(s) so that, should you need to reinstall Office you can do so from the downloaded file(s) rather than having to download again.

OK thanks Paul - I only know it as Microsoft Home & Business 2010.

I'll get back to you and let you know how I go.
