Why are you having a rant here? This site has no affiliation with Microsoft.

As for your problem, the only 'renaming' Office 2013 does to recovered files is to add the 'recovered' annotation (a) without touching the original file (or any others); and (b) without saving the recovered one. It's up to you, the user, to learn how to use these features - features that have been in Office for a decade or so...

As for suing MS, good luck with that (you'll need it).
