Exclamation Help: Very low response-rate!

Hello,

It seems that about 60% of the topics here remains without any response.

The future of this Forum is a concern for us all! Without responses this Forum will soon loose credibility, will be unsuccesful and might fail in the end.

Respond to this topic if you wish a solution for this problem. My tip is:

A more active role for the administator.

But I can't wait to hear your tips about the subject.

Kind regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff
I think the issue here is that a lot of people have day-jobs. Plus the majority of issues require some form of investigation in order to provide a potential solution.
Perhaps if an Administrator had the bandwidth they could look at providing a template for people to use in order to post their issue. Again an issue is sometimes the lack of information in order for someone to make a judgement and thereby a potential solution.
Also lets now forget that we dont know how many peole have either been provided with a solution or found one themselves but never come back to mark the issue as solved.
Hope my comments help.
Tony

Jeff,

I think you need a reality check. The role of an administrator is not to undertake the answering of everyone's questions - it's to ensure the board is run efficiently. That includes transferring threads to the correct forums when people post them in the wrong ones, deleting duplicate posts/threads (which one of yours was), policing inappropriate content, killing spam, and so on. Expecting adminstrators to know the minutae of every Office application as well and provide quick, detailed answers to sometimes inadequately expressed questions is totally unreasonable.

That said, if you check my profile, you'll find I have in excess of 5500 posts to my credit, at a rate in excess of 7/day since I joined this forum just over two years ago. Indeed, my posts account for around 13% of all the posts this board has ever had since it was created in 2005. And not one of them was a request for help - they were all helping others solve their problems. Not only that, I provide end-user support on numerous other boards as well. My posts here account for about half my daily average. None of this is paid and requires hours upon hours of commitment most days.

And surprising though it may seem, I do have a life outside of providing this free support. Sometimes I like to spend time with my family & friends, eat a meal, sleep, go to Uni, etc, etc. Gee, I might even take a vacation once in a while.

So, instead of ventilating, how about spending some time actually contributing???

To Paul and to who it may concern,

I know you are a very dedicated man and a great help for many of us. Your work is highly appreciated, let there be no doubt about it. However you seem to be responsable to such an extent that you are interpreting my words as a critic towards people like you.

It was never my intention to criticize any of the collaborators. The collaborators have my deepest respect.

What I intended, was just to open a debate about an issue that IMO is crucial for the future of this forum, that is to say: About 60% of the posts remain without an answer. I think the solution of the problem starts with facing the reality. Let's face it and try to generate some constructive solutions here.

The unanswered questions are mostly in "Outlook"...there are no Outlook experts here.

Welcome back!
