Default Software licensing question

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question. I have a desktop, with Office on it. I also have a laptop with a "Trial" version of Office

I just purchased another unrelated software program, and asked about licensing it for two computers. I was informed that, in their case, the license is a "user license" and I can install it on both as long as I own both. They do not want two copies running simultaneously, but the notion of using it on a desktop in the shop, and a laptop for the road, is fine sisnce both installs are for the same user.

Is this policy also true of Microsoft Office? I would LOVE to have Office to use on the road, instead of the dinky program I'm currently using.
