Default Office is FUBAR

Greetings,

I was happily operating Win7 Pro 64-bit on a Dell Vostro 1220 using Office 2003. Then I came across an old Works Suite 99 CD, and decided to install Works 4.5, so I could run loan amortization schedules. In hindsight, this may have been ill-advised . . .

Tried to use Works 4.5 and got an error message, so after a few attempts to fix it, I uninstalled it using Revo Uninstaller. Now many (but not all) of my Word and Excel documents are askew; Word line spacing, tabs, and indentations are wacky, and the fonts look tiny on the page even though the toolbar indicates 12-point.

I took corrective measures, including a Windows update, Dell driver update, virus scan, un/reinstallation of Office 2003, and a registry scan with CCleaner (which found many font errors). As a last resort I reinstalled Works 4.5 and behold, all my Office documents were restored to their previously good condition! That is, until the first restart, when the askew docs returned. Current condition: Works 4.5 is gone, Office 2003 is FUBAR. Any and all assistance is welcome.
