Afraid no luck on either of the suggestions, but thanks for them, I am at a dead loss!

See what the linked template is... Developer tab > Document template. I'd backspace over it.

Default mail merg with photo

I set up a mail merge for photo id cards which include a photograph
however as soon as I insert the picture fields are moved around or completely disappear.
