Making mail merge blank fill a line to highlight that line
Hi,
I have used Outlook to prepare a phone book for my HOA for years using Outlook's booklet option. It was a convoluted process to get field names and data formated that included PDF save to word, a macro, and some other following around. I am replacing that multistep process with a mail merge and it's working fine... except! I would like to maintain the look and feel from Outlook and the first line of each contact is shaded. I can get the mail merge to shade the first line but only to the point where characters stop. I would like to blank fill the rest of the line. How? The field names are in a one-column/row cell to prevent page splitting. |

Select the paragraphs you want highlighting and then from the Home Tab > Paragraph Group > Click the down arrow next to Borders and select Borders and Shading. From the Shading Tab, select Apply to Paragraph (the default and what you have been using is Text) and select a suitable light grey fill colour.

Thank you. Worked like a charm! My version of Word's paragraph tab did not seem to have the shading option but found an alternative under Design.
