Excel to Word - mail merge Birthday field takes ap to a month to update.

I have a family list with names, addresses, birthdays, ages etc. When I open Word and click to review the mail merged fields I've noticed that the age fields do not update for almost a month after they should. For example if my birthday is 9-5-2005 Word will not update my age for almost a month even though Excel has updated my age correctly.
