Default Field Code/Switch for Time not working

I have an Excel sheet with a start time field that is formatted as "HH:mm". I also have a Word document with information about a person's start time at an event. When I insert the merge code the field shows 0.8125. So it is not even in the normal hours/minutes/seconds format. When I toggle field codes I get { MERGEFIELD Start_Time }. I then enter a switch to the field code { MERGEFIELD Start_Time \@"HH:mm"} and then update field. I get the same result of 0.8125. Any ideas on how to get this to work for me? Thank you in advance for taking the time to look at this.
