Word 2013 AS400 data to Word Printing
I created a form document with tables that will merge field data and want to print a second page only if the fields have data. I am not sure how to do this, is there an if then statement that would all this option? Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 08-07-2015 at 05:34 AM. Reason: changed title to give more info |

This has nothing to do with it being a template, if you mean a Word template.

Template/Form Printing
Thanks Charles! Let me provide additional details, the template/form I am created is going to be used on an AS400 system to merge data from another application. The system will print the word template automatically, what I need it to do is print only the pages that have data. For example, If the merged data is only entered on one page then when the form prints page one prints but if additional data is entered on page 2 then both pages print.
I have not been able to find any posts that provide anything on controlling the number pages word prints without allowing the print dialog window to appear telling what pages to print, because this form is being printed through another program the users will not and should not have the option to tell it what pages to print. |

Again, "template" is a jargon term in Word that does not apply to what you are doing. "Form" also has special meanings in Word. The term "primary merge document" probably is closest. Not meaning to be picky, but I am being specific on the terms because if you are looking for help online, the terms you are using matter.
A mail merge automatically stops when it runs out of data, it does not create more pages. It starts with one page or label and creates the needed number for the data. Your application could create a data file for the merge if that would help. Please read the linked pages. They will give you information you need. |

What you can achieve depends on exactly how this document is being created. For starters, it's not apparent whether you're using mailmerge or some other process or why, if the second page might be empty, that page is being produced when it's not needed.
