Hi,
I have a field to include text like the following: {INCLUDETEXT "http://192.31.22.211/og/rsmp.rtf" \c MSRTF} When I try to show the text it says: Error! Not a valid filename. I am pretty sure the url is validate and I can download the rtf file when I visit it from the browser. I am working on Mac with office 2011(v14.3.6). Any help? |

INCLUDETEXT fields do not work with URLs.

Is there anything that can work with URLs?

A HYPERLINK field will work with URLs, but that opens the target in a separate process, whereas an INCLUDETEXT field imports its target's content into the document containing the field. Is there a reason you can't download the file referenced in the URL, then point the INCLUDETEXT field to the downloaded file?

I am trying to build a PDF from Word with fields, and the value of the fields would be provided in run-time.

OK, but I can't see what that has to do with the INCLUDETEXT field. For mailmerge purposes, PDF-generation requires only that the mailmerge output document be saved in the PDF format when the merge is Finished.
