Hopefully I can explain this. I have a mail merge document with 50 letters. I need to reorder them by a number in the document.
Example line in the text of my letter: Cordially, Jane Doe, MD #jdoe1234 The number that they need to be reordered by is jdoe1234 ascending. |

You can use the mailmerge tools (Edit Recipient List) to sort on the field containing the #jdoe1234.

Can this sort be done after the fields have been merged in? I manually enter that number on each letter. It does not populate from the merge.
Maybe I need to go about this in a different way? |

I have no idea what you mean by "Can this sort be done after the fields have been merged in?". You specify the sort order in the mailmerge main document before executing the merge.
