Word Banter and a number of other sites (such as the one I gave a link to) simply replicate the long-defunct newsgroups that used to do what forums such as this one now do. Consequently, what you post on one site turns up on all those that still provide a front-end to those new groups.

As for your merge, I'm assuming there were no manual line breaks or paragraph breaks between any of your IF statements. If so, the fact you're still seeing unwanted lines suggests you're only previewing the merge. You need to Finish/Execute the merge to, say, a new document before the output formatting can be relied upon.
