Default DDE, OLE DB, or ODBC?

I'm sure this question has popped up before, but I am looking for a good answer to the following question:

Which should I use for conducting a mail merge with my data source as an Excel file: OLE DB Database files, MS Excel Worksheets via DDE, or Excel Files via ODBC?
