When I want to attach a screenshot to a post, something I always and only do from my work PC on the corporate network, the next step varies for no discernable reason: sometimes I can just select a file from my drives, sometimes I'm asked for a URL. Policies mean I can't get to any external repository (such as Dropbox), so at least half the time I can't actually ask my question.
Is there a way I can be sure of getting the "upload local file" dialog? Thanks in advance. |

If you click "Manage Attachments" in "Advanced" mode, you should see both options. I always use local files which seems more reliable.

… and, experiment reveals, don't foolishly expect an "attach picture" icon to let you attach a local file <g> Now I know to Go advanced and work with attachments. Thanks!

Yes, you are right, the "insert picture" icon
embeds pictures from other websites, the forum doesn't save the image on our server, as a result, the images are often missing several months later and make the posts less useful. We strongly suggest members use local files. |
