thanks Colin
that appears to be close...but as I run this out a few columns.....it is still calculating...this runs the same sequence out to comumn N. but it appears to me that if the first column has a date in it...it is still counting this as my main requirement to check for blanks in the cell to the right. Do I need to add something to say that if Column to is 0> and not blank?
