Where are those borders? The only thing there except some data is Freeze Panes at cell E23 activated. This results topmost 22 rows and leftmost 4 columns not scrolled and always visible for user. The lines between movable and non-movable parts of sheet are marked as lines. NB! Those aren't borders!
You can switch this feature On/Of from Freeze Panes button in Wiew menu. The currently active cell when you activate this feature will determine how many columns and/or rows will be freezed. It is usually used to make table headers always visible, and/or make some leftmost columns (which may work as row identifiers) to be always visible in case the table is too wide otherwise. |

I don't know how that happened. I have never heard of that only freze the top row. How do I un-freze it?
What I have noticed is, no mater which section I am in, only the bottom sections are scrollable, so what is the vertical split for? Are you sure the split is at E23 as this is nowere near the lines. D16, E16, D17 and E17 seem to be in that area. |

Sorry! I missed that you had some rows scrolled hidden in your example file! So the freezing was initiated at E17 instead of E23!
I hope the attachment will help! |

I have unfrozen the sheet. I have clicked on E17 and selected freeze panes. This has ended up with a vertical line downwards that does not seem to make any difference as all freezing is now above Row 17 so why the vertical line? It is not freezing all columns A to D and all rows above row 17 as the image on the drop down next to freeze panes suggests.

As much as I see in your attachment, you clicked F14 and then freezed panes. Columns A:E and rows 1:13 are freezed.
To freeze only some number of top rows, leaving all columns unfreezed, you have to activate a cell in column A (e.g. A14), and then freese panes. |

But that is my point. I selected cell F14 and choose freese panes. But all it has frozen is all rows above row 14. Columbs A-D are not frozen. No columbs have been frozen.

Now I click once at right arrow of sheets horizontal scroll-bar at bottom of sheet. Without freezing active, columns B, C, D, E, F, G, H, ... would be visible, but with freezing you set on, the columns A, B C, D, E, and then columns G, H, I, ... are visible instead; With every further click on this right arrow of scroll-bar, you can hide additional columns immediately after column E, and make more columns at right of sheet, which were hidden before at sheets border, visible. E.g. you can make visible columns A, B, C, D, E and GW, GX, GY, ...; In case you want to see data in column F again, you have to scroll back - clicking on left arrow of scroll bar repeatedly, or simply dragging the scroll bar back. |
