Default Word 2003: workaround for Ctrl+C fails on autofiltered merged cells

On a merged cell part-excluded by autofilter (e.g.B2-6 attached), Ctrl+C fails. Any suggestions for a workaround? I do need the visible rows and no others on the clipboard - to paste outside Excel.

Or any other way to export the visible rows? The only command I have found that works is Print - and I do not fancy attempting reconstruction of the cells from that output.

By the way, as well as failing, it gives this bogus warning:

"Change", note - despite no change.
