I am frequently getting a problem where the cursor does go to the cell I have just selected. It is often on a row two rows up. To correct the problem, I move to another worksheet and then back again. The cursor is then on the correct cell.
I see this problem has been reported before (for several years in fact), but obviously it still persists. I am using the latest version of Excel in Office 365 in Windows 11 (on a 4K monitor).

Anyone else still having this problem or is aware of it?

It may not be an Excel problem at all. The culprit could be your moue driver - or even your display driver. Try ensuring both are up-to-date.

I suppose its possible, but all my drivers are up to date. Other people have reported this problem going back to 2019 I think. Also, if it was a mouse or display driver problem, I don't think the cursor would be on a cell in another row. It would likely be somewhere not aligned to the excel cells as it would not know anything about the cells.
Pretty sure it is an excel problem.

If the problem has been reported for several years, there should be solutions somewhere, though? Have you tried another mouse just to check ?

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I have no problem with the mouse - its only in excel that there is an occasional problem.

If Excel is not selecting the correct cell, the issue might be related to the "Extend Selection" mode, zoom settings, or other factors like a corrupted workbook or add-ins. You can try pressing F8 to disable "Extend Selection" mode, adjusting the zoom level, or restarting Excel to resolve the problem.

I have found that switching to another worksheet and back fixes the problem until it happens again.

As far as I am aware, there is no fix for this yet. It is one of those annoying intermittent problems that never seems to get fixed - probably no one has the time to investigate properly and it is very difficult to reproduce.

Perhaps try repairing your office version?
