Default How to input correctly time in minutes and seconds

Hi all again!
I need to input time in minutes and seconds, example 12 min and 33 secs.

If I input in the cell 12:33, Excel takes as 12 hours and 33 minutes.

I realized that if I need to input 12 min and 33 secs, I must input 0 hours too.
00:12:33

What is the reason? Thanks!
