Compare data values for same period in previous year
I keep a spreadsheet of energy meter readings and energy use calculated therefrom, and wish to be able to instantly compare calculated energy usage for the same period in previous years - see highlighted cells in attached sample spreadsheet.
Can this be achieved, please? I assume there is a simple way to refer to the same reading date in previous years and work from there, perhaps? Eventually I would like to use this data to provide a visual representation of usage over the years. (Apologies if this seems simple, but please bear in mind that I am a relative novice at this sort of thing!) Thanks. |

Merge your 2 years tables into one and pivot the data.
In the attached two sheets with slightly different arrangements of pivot tables, on the second sheet a chart too. I think you're using Excel 2007 so I hope the pivots are still compatible. |

Thanks, that looks really useful.
Pivot Tables are a new concept for me, but I've found guidance on how to set one up on Excel 2007, so will have a go later. Thanks again. |
